Hey everyone. It's been a long hiatus but, I'm here to let everyone know things are up and rolling again! I've been super busy with loads of gallery shows, family, and class planning.

Yey, Thesis!! Thesis was so much fun and it feels so good to be a Ringling alum. I'm excited to start working on tons of personal projects as I seek out some more opportunities elsewhere. I will be moving up to Asheville NC with my friend Felicia. There's talk of a possible internship on Nantucket for the summer so that's another possibility..

..Most of these thesis pieces will be up for sale on my etsy soon! Get excited to build your own paper dolls! <3

I'm currently in Asheville, North Carolina for spring break and i'm surrounded by crafty people and stores full of handmade goods. It's pretty inspiring! Working on tons of new stuff for that art sale in April and also tons of school work as well [mostly thesis and book arts]. So look forward to a new post full of these new creations.

We made some plush pillows today at work! We used hot glue, fabric, and tons of little accessories. Yay, crafty days!

I'll get some more stuff up here soon. I'm about to vacation to North Carolina to visit a dear dear friend, Felicia. I'll ideally have tons of stuff to show when I get back!

I got a piece into Society of Illustrators! I'm honestly so excited and honored.. Congratulations to all the other students nationwide who made it in! There's such a variety of work in the winning entries and i'm really impressed with everyone. Ringling got 19 pieces in as well which is definitely awesome!

3 book series. The second one is way interactive! You'll have to see it in person. The boombox-box DOES have real speakers with an mp3 hook-up for all of your dancing needs. Ohh yeah! <3<3 Completely illustrated, written, bound, covered, and created by me! I want to make things like this forever.

More soon! It's winter break and i'm STOKED to be able to work on some of my own things as well as to start thesis!

We had an open illustration assignment in my illustration class and I wanted to do an ill of a little boy scaring his closet monster. It was really time consuming but I LOVE how it came out. So so so cute. All the little toys were so much fun to make and I especially like the little hanger hanging from his closet doorknob. The monster has posable arms andd cute lil hands.

I'm ever so happy to be reunited with a digital camera again. So be excited! I'll be posting all of my other 3d stuff i've been working on for the past 3 months over the next few weeks.

Hope everyone had a splendiddd Halloween! Mine was lovely. I spent it on Nantucket, Massachusetts. We were unicorns. <3

I finally got around to making my own sketchbook so here she is, along with some sketches! oh yeaah!

yayayay. i love bookmaking so much! I made the book in this really awkward format though which makes it easy for me to introduce myself to new people by shoving half my book in their personal space while i try and draw in it! While at first, thought inconvenient, it's actually working quite well. <3

I'm also working on this lil thang for Thiel::

Again with the awkward very-vertical format. She's kinda cute.. but hey.
The next assignment is an open assignment and I'm pretty excited because i'm planning on doing a little CD/booklet/poster music branding type thing. Devendra Banhart, the Unicorns, the Islands, or ummm Cocorosie? Hm. Still deciding and planning all of that.

Just made a 3-part book for my artist's books class! I love it! It connects to yo iPod and plays music! haha. I included all of my own text and illustrations-- be excited.

For the very last page, I created a little discotheque with two of my fave DJs in all of ybor as the DJs for the dance party. Here they are:

Also worked on some self-promo stuff for my portfolio class.. I put a different blog/e-mail on the entire package and i've completely changed my mind. So the design will be the same but the information is definitely off, so imagine otherwise. ha!

Some recent plushies.. Will be up on Etsy soon! This one is Bridget and she'll be for sale. The giraffe and shark were gifts to some friends. Embroidered facesss and cute outfits!

Hallmark workshop has come and passed and my friend Cassie and I made some lil plushies to say thank you to Daniel, David, and Sam who took us through the workshop. They were awesome and so unbelievably helpful! It was an awesome experience..

Oh and a puppy for good measure.. : ] Someone get me one!

Some stuff for the Corel Painter assignment. I love love love portraits in general so these were fun. 3 are not finished, just kind of playing around with media and brushes. Not due for another week but he said I was done and could start on my final. Yay!

Sketchbook Dump + Oil Painting

Hey! Keeping up with my one week post quota promise I made with Cassie, here's some updates!

After his demo, Pratt gave us two oil paintings to do, so this was one of mine (the other is awful, promise).

Here's some sketchbook pages-- The first is my Makenzie. I miss her loads and haven't seen her for almost an entire year but she still makes good reference. Sad face Michelle!

That last one is from my Eco of Water class. I have way too much fun doodling scuba-diving Michelles..

Still working on those thirty portraits and 3 cover illustrations. All of it is due next week so you'll get a pretty hefty update then too. <3

Working on some of Pratt's 30 portraits as well as revising some thumbs for Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury. I'm pretty content with all four of the final ideas so I think i'll love doing whichever he chooses.

So, thought i'd put some sketchbook pages up.. These are actually pretty boring compared to some others in my sketchbook, but these few are from yesterday. Pratt did another demo so I used up the rest of the acrylic he had on his palette when he moved on to the tar. And then the other little ink drawings are from my night class (Ecology of Water). There are actually a few really funny ones that i'll post a little later. The soda is a still life. Kind of.

Anyway.. Enjoy!

It's a Mi-shell-fish. They're vegetarian fishies that are often caught in the Sea of Japan and are commonly used in the sushi industry, feeding a large population all around the world.
Poor little Mi-shell-fishies.

So I would have to say, my first attempt at photoshop as well as first time with the wacom tablet went pretty well. I had a lot of fun with it although it got pretty tedious towards the end.

Character Design!

Out of my 12 characters, this is the one that Mr. Chapman liked most. She's a cutie. She lives alone in a little victorian house and writes stories. From her stories little creatures/imaginary friends are created. Here are some sketches playing with different details. For her presentation, I made a little paper house for her to live in. I guess i'll build and photograph it for class and bring in the flat pattern. I ADORE pattern drafting. ADORE IT. <3

Now on to the coloring in photoshop. First time using that as well as that wacom tablet/pen. It'll be fun. : ]

Pratt Book Assignment

So for Pratt's handmade book assignment, I went ahead and did music. At the beginning of the assignment I sent out e-mails to any musician or person related to music in anyway. I was going to base my book off of whoever responded and had time to interview. I received three responses; DJ Rig who DJs at a club in Tampa (and is married to America's Next Top Model contestant Mollie Sue!), a co-worker's grandfather who plays banjo in a polka band, and surprisingly my all time favorite- the Brooklyn native band Matt and Kim! So after interviewing all three, I decided to get a little ambitious and make three separate little books all made completely from scratch. Even the cute lil boxesss. <3

So yeeeyyyah. Here they are:
